Absolutely - I wouldn't necessarily have expected even the Muslims in the crowd to have raised that slogan in New York. But the way in which some people literally recoil from the very prospect of saying something a little more cutting than the usual insipid fare you get on much of the left, (and not only the American left), is curious. It has its own libidinal economy, and its own underlying identification.
Actually, there's a bit of context missing from what I'm saying. There were a number of Hezbollah supporters in the crowd - they raised the slogan and a number of us went along with it. I would like to soothe people with the idea that most people ingnored this extremism etc, but when it came to the speeches I saw most people cheering when Galloway and Tamimi supported the Lebanese resistance, making a specific point of including Hezbollah. In fact, I took video footage of it.
