This is an instance of what I have for some years been labelling "Sandbox Politics." Yoshie recently came up with an even better label, "Resolutionary Socialism."
It consists of the delusion of too many academics, journalists, and other pedants that the firing patterns of their private synapses make a difference in struggles of which they are no part.
