Hey, here's the monument to Stalin that was erected in North Ossetia last year: http://news.ntv.ru/78825/

There's was also one erected in Yakutia last year: http://rupor.info/full.php?aid=12098

Interesting that these monuments are going up in non-Slavic areas.

The text is in Russian (of course). Translation by me:

A monument to Stalin has been erected in Yakutia May 5 2005

In the Yakut city of Mirnyi on Sunday a monument to Josef Stalin was erected. NESRU.com reports that the monument was erected on the city's Victory Square.

Directing himself to people, the head of the Mirninskii region of the city Anatoly Popov said the following: "We are putting up a monument to a great son of Russia, who gave his people all that he had: talent, organizational abilities, hardness and demandingness, love and passion, not taking anything in return."

Popov also observed that Stalin died without a ruble in his pocket and without having a bank account. Several veterans cried during the course of the speech.

But veterans living in Krasnoyarsk did not succeed in persuading the authorities or erecting a monument to Stalin. Governor of Krasnodar Krai Aleksandr Khloponin emphasized for days that, although the role of the Generalissimus in the war "cannot be underestimated," it is necessary to remember the other side of his leadership.

Nu, zayats, pogodi!
