Ed Hyman, Wall Street's favorite economist, whose great talent is  
being among the first to crystallize the conventional wisdom of the  
moment, often pastes newspaper headlines on the front page of his  
daily letter, sorted into "good news" and "bad news." (He also pastes  
headlines and snippets on the inside pages, too, with comments like  
"Wow!" - this is why my late friend John Liscio nicknamed him  
"Newsboy.") Yesterday morning, in the "good news" column: "Top US
