Wasn't there something like this in the U.S. in the 1980s? "Don't buy foreign cars" and such? Michael Moore's film Roger & Me shows autoworkers destroying a Japanese car in a ritual, if I remember correctly.
But this is besides the point. Anti-semitism is a constant of capitalism, and is rooted in the commodity form of labor itself. It doesn't matter what country is a real financial power or not, whether that be Japan or some other country. When 59% of Europeans in a poll say that Israel is the greatest threat to world peace, than they are saying so on the basis of a pathological ressentiment.
