Interesting piece from Pew at <http://pewresearch.org/obdeck/? ObDeckID=32>. It leads by pointing out that the public isn't clamoring for a flag-burning amendment (though with no other issue is there such a wide difference of opinion by educational attainment). Of 19 issues they polled about, flag burning was rated "very important" by 49% of the public - below the environment and the minimum wage, and 15 points above gay marriage. At the top of the list were some serious things - education, the economy, health care, Social Security, Iraq, terrorism, taxes, jobs, energy, all of which scored over 64%. Some of the Reps key issues, and the features of their idiotic summer social agenda, come in under 50% (flag burning, inheritance tax, abortion, gay marriage).
