Somewhere the debate is getting sidelined. women opting out after education .. they do not do so often by choice. It is the social set up that sidelines women .. employers do not prefer women as suitable for certain jobs ispite of qualification. Through out the world including so called advanced societies women are not getting socially influential opportunities. Some of them have just fought by their dint and got those positions. Also I am aware even sitting in India the insecurity married women suffer their. It is necessarythat women should achieve economic independance before getting married. This is different from the fact that evry individual, man or woman , needs certin level of social education to be a responsible citizen. In the middle class which is today prosperous in India, girls have successfully competed against their men and obtained high positions in IT secotr in particular. Men find it increasingly difficult to win them over for marriage and commitment! Often professsonally successful indian in US searches for an unemployable girl from India for a wife so that she can keep his house there!;

In general in India women are doing very well in all fields including politics. It is not the educated are opting out it is the othere wise.. lack of opportunity for woman by virtue of her sex ,commensurate with their

qualification., inability of husbands to put up with a wife who would have done better professionally.. lack of opportunity often by design of a maledominated society. In that novel 'Strong Medicine' Arthor Heily has brough this out clearly.
