Far from fighting for extension of coverage, American unions boast of "union difference," i.e., the difference between wages and conditions of union and non-union workers; <http://www.aflcio.org/joinaunion/why/uniondifference/>.

Come to think of it, though, the "union difference" is nothing to be proud of. :-|
