Yeah - definitely. Israel was happy to do anything it could to keep Iran's front with Iraq hot at the time. Israel bore a grudge with Iraq for deploying divisions on the Syrian front during the 1973 War, and had other long-standing issues with it which made this an ideal opportunity, so to speak. Nevertheless, the Israelis failed to make this dependency relationship quash a growing relationship of antagonism with the Iranians during the 1980s - witness Hezbollah.
