Canon group began construction of its second jet printer factory in Vietnam in Tien Son Industrial Zone in northern Bac Ninh province on May 6.
The factory is due to become operational in April 2007, and should turn out 700,000 printers per month, all of which will be exported.
The factory will employ around 3,500 workers in the first phase, with an investment capital of Ú $70 million.
In the second phase, Canon plans to funnel an additional investment of US 40 million and recruit 2,500-3,000 more workers for the factory.
Canon's first jet printer factory in the country is located in Hanoi's Thang Long Industrial Zone and earned revenues of US $410 million last year. The group also owns a laser printer plant in Bac Ninh province's Que Vo Industrial Zone, which became operational last year with 500 staffers. (VNA)
