NY Times film critic A. O. Scott -- who was apparently cowering behind the bolted door of his apartment in crime-riddled Brooklyn before being rescued by the institution of Rudolph Giuliani's NYC police state -- takes a dim view of the documentary "Giuliani Time"'s iconoclastic take on Hizzoner Il Duce.

Quoth Scott: "Left unexamined is how the Democratic Party, with its overwhelming demographic and institutional advantages in New York, has managed to lose four mayoral elections in a row. As someone who voted in all of those elections — and, no, I won't say for whom — I can hardly claim neutrality. But, like a lot of New Yorkers who lived here through the Giuliani era, I can confess ambivalence, and I'm grateful to Mr. Keating for reminding me, perhaps to some extent inadvertently, of what a complicated figure Mr. Giuliani was and remains." Despite that coyness, Scott drops various hints throughout his review suggesting that Rudy G was indeed the beneficiary of his vote: <http://movies2.nytimes.com/2006/05/12/movies/12giul.html>

For the record, here's Scott's bio and photo: <http://movies.nytimes.com/ref/movies/bio_scott.html> It seems hardly surprising that anyone so dweeby-looking would be besotted by NYC's Mayor on Horseback.
