Not surprising. IIRC the US bought $40 million worth
of arms from Russia and gave them to the Northern
Alliance during the Afghan "war" in 2001. The NA
has/had close ties to Russia. They're used to Russian
weapons.

As I've said before, Russia and everybody else around
Afghanistan was full-on behind the anti-Taliban thing.
