Vietnam Motorshow draws would-be motorists

Eighteen domestic and foreign companies are displaying 110 different models
of cars at the third Vietnam Motorshow, which began on October 26.
The show is organised by Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association
(VAMA) and Asia Trade Fair & Business Promotion company (ATFA).
"This will help mobilise the local market and prepare for new exports," Do
Huu Hao, deputy minister of industry, said.
"Technology and management must be improved to attain the highest and
competitive prices for the global market," he added.
Organised every two years, the Motorshow is the largest of its kind in
Vietnam. Of a total of 110 cars, 20 are imported and three are concept
units, all of which are displayed in an area of 10,000 square metres.
US-based Ford is showing its SUV Concept model Equator and its flexible fuel
vehicle engine technology, designed to run on unleaded gasoline and ethanol,
a kind of alcohol fuel.
The Ford Focus which is manufactured in Vietnam is also on display and is
equipped with a Bio-Ethanol-E10 engine (10% ethanol mixed with 90%
gasoline).
US-based General Motors shows its Chevrolet Captiva through its local
Vidamco manufacturer.
Japanese manufacturer Toyota brings their new product Camry 2007 and
first-time ever pick-up Hilux Vigo.
Newcomer to the Vietnamese market, Honda, affirms their solid market
position with the popular Civic 8th generation and 1st formula racing model.

German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz shows three new products: SUV M-Class,
Multi-purpose Viano and five seat A-Class vehicles.
Local manufacturer Samco has introduced its healthcare-purpose van for eye
check-ups and operations as well as a small automated crane.
The Motorshow hopes to receive 120,000 visitors. (VNA)
