[lbo-talk] Directory of social projects for software developers?

Does anyone know a directory of societally useful projects which could 
use a volunteer software developer?

My experience ranges from gaming to classic AI to typical website stuff. 
My ideal scenario is that there are other such computing-world social 
volunteers I could discuss with and learn from, maybe on some web forum 
or something.
