All seems like a big deal at first. But why am I not as wrapped up in the palpable media exuberance? Maybe it's because the Dems pandered so badly to backwards attitudes to get elected, and even then limped in on top of a bunch of scandals that all happened at just the right time for them.
When Clinton won in the early 90s the Dems had a majority in the Senate and House. And he signed NAFTA, kicking corporate globalization into a hellish overdrive. Let's see what issues the new House & Senate will have us out protesting in a year or two.
