There was a rather entertaining piece about HPL a couple of weeks back in the NYRB. Not exactly a "class analysis," but fun. Apparently Lovecraft was, if I may coin a term, pamphobic -- he was scared of just about everything. It was quite a list and included things like spoons, if memory serves. Can't remember now who wrote the essay.
