NEW DELHI: The brand new 2.81-km Barakhamba Road-Indraprastha section of Delhi Metro will be opened to the public at 11-30 a.m. this coming Saturday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced on Wednesday.
This followed an inspection of the section by the Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety, Bhupinder Singh, who gave the clearance for carriage of passengers on the section. During his visit to the system, Mr. Singh inspected the section from the point of view of passenger safety and convenience. He carried out test checks of tracks, signalling, traction system and rolling stock before accorded his clearance. DMRC Directors C.B.K. Rao, Satish Kumar and Raj Kumar were present during the inspection.
With the opening of the new section, the busy ITO and Pragati Maidan, which is hosting the annual India International Trade Fair from November 14, will also come on the Delhi Metro map. The Barakhamba-Indraprastha Line 3 will now become 32 km long from Dwarka Sector 9 to Indraprastha.
