The all-volunteer military is partially a form of involuntary servitude for some members, because of economic conditions. Many military people are there because they want to be members of the military.
I'm apalled that any leftist or so-called progressive would back Rangel's plan. We should be supporting freedom for all people, not any form of slavery for a few people, for the sake of political expediency based on a shallow analysis. The people who will be most affected by a new draft will be working class young people. This is simply unacceptable. There are ways to oppose the war without supporting half-cocked ideas like Rangel's.
It is to be expected that the "privileged asses" of Biff and Muffy will be protected by exemptions and loopholes. And don't underestimate the mentality of the ruling class when it comes to *supporting* the idea of their children serving in the military. Remember that the military is worshiped by these people.
