A typically uninsightful piece by Walsh.  He repeats 
the canard that Altman is cynical/contemptuous of 
his characters.  I never fail to be amazed at the lack 
of comprehension of mise en scene and cinematic 
form Walsh displays in his writing.

The only thing he ever writes about is plot -- never a 
mention of space, editing, gesture.  He is the Rex Reed 
of leftist critics.
