Andrerw Britton, Richard Dyer and Robin Wood (to name just three) create superb leftist criticism that goes beyond mere recitations of plot. Unfortunately, such incisive work is beyond the ken of Walsh. Is it too much to ask leftist critics to have some competence in the field in which they chose to write?
