there is a big surge in repression in Oaxaca City today. Someone returned and gave a slide show with 400 photos from early november and it was very amazing. He showed the constitutional convention, and the people seemed to have very good ideas about decisionmaking, and weren't necessarily marxist. People from all age groups were participating with quite a few little kids and old women. What was also fairly dramatic was that people weren't going away during high risk situations. He had many photos of police trucks and tractors stolen by protesters. During a 6 hour (!?) conflict when the police were trying to take the area near the university, he had film clips that showed lots of men and women milling around side streets as the federal police were trying to take the intersection with a water sprayer truck, but as soon as they made everyone run away from one street, they would come back up the other. A lot of burning gasoline was used including setting this water truck's tires on fire, and it couldn't stop because a protester could climb on it. Anyway, I guess that couldn't last.
