My take on the Foley flap is that it's like the Limbaugh thing. I don't like the War on Drugs one bit, but it's incredibly obnoxious when someone rabidly supports candidates who are pro-drug war, only to reveal he has had a very expensive drug habit himself for a very long time. Foley was also in the party of homophobia and "you can never go too far with people who mess around with kids," etc. It looks like the Foley thing was probably known about by GOP heads for possibly 5 years, and many covered for him.
