NEW DELHI (Reuters) - A joint venture between Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. (IOC) and Malaysia's Petronas will set up a liquefied petroleum gas import terminal in south India, IOC's chairman said on Tuesday.
The 600,000 tonnes import facility at Ennore in Tamil Nadu is expected to be set up by mid-2008, Chairman Sarthak Behuria told Reuters.
IndianOil Petronas Private Ltd. (IPPL), a 50:50 joint venture between India's largest state-run refiner and the Malaysian state energy company, will set up the terminal.
"IPPL has already applied for approvals to set up the facility and work should begin by December-end," Behuria said. IPPL, which was set up in December 1998, operates a similar facility at Haldia.
