That article you are alluding to in Studies on the Left said that McCarthy's opponent, the progressive anti-Communist La Follette was opposed by the CPUSA in Wisconsin, which at the time controlled the CIO PAC there, giving support to Tailer Gunner Joe. Oh the ironies.
