I don't know a lot about it, but unless I'm seriously mistaken, the genocide took place after the Three Pashas took over what was left of the Ottoman Empire, and the Three Pashas were Turks. I'm fairly sure the few contemporary references I've seen to the genocide also attributed it specifically to the Turks ... although the Kurds in the region bore their share of blame for it too.
