WE never knew Wal-Mart was so eco-friendly, pushing campaigns to reduce packaging and energy consumption (with hybrid trucks, skylights and fluorescent lights) and promoting "sustainability" of forests and fisheries. We just thought of Wal-Mart as the world's biggest retailer. Company CEO Lee Scott rarely ventures from headquarters in Bentonville, Ark. But he's been lured to New York by Harvey and Bob Weinstein and such heavy-hitting entertainment comrades as Steve Rattner, Bob Pittman, Charlie Rose and Jim ("Dr. No") Dolan (who got that moniker by killing the Jets' West Side stadium and maybe the Moynihan Station, too). On Monday night, Scott will be honored for his commitment to the environment at a dinner at the Rainbow Room followed by a private concert by the Eagles.
