Well, the population (or rather the significant middle) is not looking for an alternative. They just want the return of GOP-lite. The "netroots" is agog with the hope that this is some sort of revolution in the making, but it took Katrina, the worst case scenario in Iraq, Foley, Abramoff and a whole lot of other crap to get them to this point (and who knows what election day holds!).
