(Things regarding Karl Radek and Ruth Fischer, among others)
Michael,
There is a lot of literature on this. The word for this sort of Red-Brown alliance is called "Querfront."
The daily newspaper Junge Welt, house organ of unemployed Stasi agents, is the main venue for these politics in Germany.
For a brief period in the mid-90s, JW was actually dominated by hip, young, anti-nationalist Antifa people. The older SED types got sick of being reminded that the former East Germany is a fascist rat's nest, and the newspaper split when most of the editors and writers resigned in disgust after an attempt by the publisher to re-balance the editorial staff in favor of the traditionalist faction.
The splitters went on to form the weekly Jungle World (www.jungle-world.com), which tries to be all things to all factions of the radical left, and as a result does a good job of alienating everyone. It also has some of the best music and entertainment reviews of any newspaper.
