Sept. 29 is the 65th anniversary of the Kievan massacre. The Russian magazine has an article on it here: http://www.ogoniok.com/inside/events/2006/8f1ec67b-b432-ed16-1d83-d06a302ff2a7/ Incidentally the people in the photo (taken in 1988 in front of Kiev's Babi Yar monument) are survivors of the massacre.

This is a very solemn occasion. I hereby translate the original announcement to the Kievan Jews to gather to be killed. The Nazis, unlike the contemporary Ukrainian government, seem to have been aware that Kiev is a Russian-speaking city.

"All Kikes of the city of Kiev and environs must appear on Monday, September 29, 1941, at 8 in the morning on the corner of Melnikovskaya and Dokterviskaya streets (near the cemetary).

"Bring your documents, money and valuables with you, as well as warm clothing, underwear, etc.

"Any Kike who fails to fulfill this order and is found in a different place will be shot.

"Any citizen who enters an apartment that has been vacated by Kikes and appropriates their things will be shot."
