I was suspicious about this myself and checked some stats, couldn't see anything from past elections. If this is a plot, it's the first time.

If this is all it takes to keep the R's in office, we are screwed anyway.

How could they manipulate the price of crude oil? The market is huge, with tons of non-American players. Must be those same brilliant traders who shorted airline stocks before 9/11.
