For some people the subject of math is to abstract to understand.
Teachers need to put the subject in a more realistic way.

I know algebra can be shown visually by using the coordinate
system, but if the student (of any age group) does not see it being used
in a realistic way, then the subject, equation, whatever, will be either
forgotten or vaguely understood.  Again, I am speaking about some
people, not everyone.
