You can't build a museum with 50 million?

Joanna

AS: A little more info...

U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum http://www.ushmm.org/research/library/faq/details.php?topic=06#01 The Museum cost approximately $168 million to build ($90 million for the building's construction and $78 million for the exhibits).

Began with Jimmy Carter’s Presidential Commission on the Holocaust—1978. Significant funding from federal appropriations.

National Museum of the American Indian http://www.nmai.si.edu/subpage.cfm?subpage=dc&second=visitor&third=faqs How long did it take to build the museum, and how much did the construction cost? Groundbreaking for construction of the museum was on September 28, 1999. Construction costs were $219 million, $199 million for construction and $20 million for Public Programs. The museum opened to the public on September 21, 2004.

http://www.nmai.si.edu/press/releases/2006-02_fact_sheet_NMAI_DC.pdf Established with an Act of Congress—1989. Most funding from federal appropriations.

U.S. National Slavery Museum http://www.usnationalslaverymuseum.org/pdf/black_voices.pdf

Began with former Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder’s trip to Goree Island—1992. "Wilder, who noted that Bill Clinton was vilified for asking for a national apology for slavery, says that the country has a problem in confronting the issue

Wilder says that the financing will come mostly from the private and corporate sector, possibly from the federal government and municipalities, and from private donations." About $50 million in hand; museum has a $200 million price tag (CNN).
