Exhuming the Past In a Painful Quest Guatemalan Victims' Families Seek Closure, Justice

AS: Wow, this article is really bad. The author appears totally unaware that a Spanish judge issued arrest warrants for eight defendants in July, including Reagan's favorite evangelical Rios Montt. For more info, see attorneys the Center for Justice and Accountability http://www.cja.org. There's an active case now; it won't take 20 years to file one, etc.

Re: Dennis's comment on Israel, Thomas Melville references Israel's role in arming the Guatemalan military in his book, "Through a Glass Darkly: The U.S. Holocaust in Central America."

If I remember correctly, Melville was kicked out of Guatemala and writes the life story of his Maryknoll successor Ron Hennessey; Melville was later one of the Catonsville Nine.
