The claim Joanna makes below re Faulkner hit me as a bit extravagant; in
fact it drove me back to rereading Faulkner, and spending $75 for two of
the Library of America volumes, to have the best text. I thought I would
have to reread at least three or four of his novels to be able to
determine my response, but I've reached only page 75 of _As I Lay
Dying_, and those 75 pages alone are enough to put Faulkner in any
league you care to name.
