[lbo-talk] merely cultural

How are Christian commitments changing in the course of this war on so called Islamo fascism? What is the nature of the Christian Right--supposedly surprising findings in a new book by Michael Hout? How is the rally cry for a return to natural arrangements ( read: submission to patriarchal families and avoidance of social, personal and aesthetic experimental) feeding on the hysteria about gay marriage and the dangers of technologically assisted reproduction and genetic engineering? The merely cultural obviously cannot be ignored; Marxists don't have much to say about what is important and pivotal here. A pluralistic approach is needed. As for mutual recognition, Axel Honneth's forthcoming book on reification will prove important, including the replies by the respondents. Rakesh
