Sometimes. But he can also be a mean asshole. An old pal of mine who was an economist in a Texas econ development agency saw him offstage making fun of a guy delivering a eulogy at a funeral. Now, he reportedly bursts into obscene rages. And all those nicknames are a form of aggression and dominance. I don't see Rove's nickname, "Turd Blossom," as terribly affectionate.
