I don't know about others, but I'm not saying "the US will never leave." All I'm saying is that it won't leave any time soon. -- Yoshie ************************** Saddam was out of U.S. control. The point is to control the oil spigot--don't let *too* much out. The dominant "WE" wouldn't want to see the price slide to $25 a barrel again. Of course, it would be nice to have some bases too or at least docking rights for carriers. We'll see about that. But like Miles says, "It's M-C-M, baby." That's the Iraq policy of the executive committee for running the affairs of our ruling class in Iraq. The same applies to Iran. The Persian Prince is out of control. He'll have to be replaced by someone more amenable to U.S. influence. An invasion will not be necessary (nor would it be successfully doable) for Iran. But there are Iranian factions to tempt, factions playing for time.
