For instance, if the "deep state" in Turkey decides to check democracy, does so more or less bloodlessly, and the corporate media portray that as an action in response to popular* demand for secularism, how will most Western liberals and leftists react (assuming that they react at all)?

* As you can gauge from the demo and polls, the military is not without its constituency, albeit fewer and generally of higher classes and strata than the AKP voters. -- Yoshie
