A US run workshop to train customs enforcement personnel to identify materials which could be used to manufacture weapons of mass destruction (WMD), began in Hanoi on April 17, said the US Embassy in Hanoi.
The three-day workshop is being co-organised by the US Embassy in Hanoi, the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs.
The new training techniques are expected to allow customs inspectors to be better prepared to enforce Vietnam's export control laws by recognising controlled and potentially dangerous materials.
The US Government's Export Control and Border Security programme is funding the workshop.
