Indeed it is (but such can be said of all his novels.  Narrow Rooms 
is a particular treat).

For anyone in the NYC area, Mr. Purdy is listed in the Brooklyn 
phone directory.  He has lived in Brooklyn Heights for decades, an 
ignored queer genius passed over by the hordes who ruch to embrace 
the homophobic Bellow and Roth.

Is it any wonder that there is no Left?
