As to the above comment, do not forget neuroplasticity, which kind of goes together with the Lamarckian concept of evolution. That is to say, the physical structure of the brain adapts to the environment, especially during the first 25 years of life. That further supports James's argument that for human, institutional environment is far more important than natural selection.
