Because, dear Woj, cars and trucks can climb grades that are much steeper than Acela-like trains. Please Google "grapevine steep grade" for more information.

Sorry, dedicated TGV ROW is nothing like "Acela-like" technology, which is in fact, built on existing freight ROW.
