While I suspect that punk wouldn't have survived if it was limited to the Pistols, there is a fairly substantial left wing link through both manager McLaren and artist Jamie Reid, both of whom had English Situationist connections. I think that McLaren in particular is a fascinating figure, revealing the hidden paranoic, authoritarian face of situationism in its most hack-like face.... robert wood
