However, factoring VMI into the picture moves the US only one rank down from the second place (after Luxembourg) in terms of Net National Income to third place after Luxembourg and Norway in terms of VMI (Figure 4). It is interesting because while the US VMI rate is close to that of Third World countries (Table 1,) the relatively smaller share of a very large pie still translates into a fairly large slice.
