Astra Taylor's extremely short (hour and five minutes) documentary Zizek! is having its debut on basic cable. It's playing at 1:05 pm EST on the Sundance Channel on Wednesday 8/29.

Zizek fans will obviously like it, but it might even more interesting to non-Zizek fans. Unlike most videos of his lectures, Taylor does a great job of capturing his charisma as a poet/prophet/stand-up comic/ performance artist who's read a mountain of books and swum a river of movies -- a kind of a Walt Whitman for late 20C pessimists. I sing the intellectual, struggling in his coils, leaping hills of his own making, running through the streets...

I'm just saying. It's different to see and hear him than to read him.

Michael
