The friend was talking to the plaintiff and explaining what would be expected of him -- that there was a chance he'd be deposed or that he'd have to testify at trial, that he probably wouldn't get much money out of it, etc. None of this phased the plaintiff, apparently. "This is bigger than me," he said, "this is about future generations. This is about whether my kids and grandkids are going to be treated like dirt in that place."
I thought it was a nice little anecdote to share the next time I'm confronted with the "today class is an arbitrary and meaningless social category" argument.
