I was once invited to a small lunch with George Stigler at the Federal Reserve Bank 
of San Francisco.  I arrived early at the small conference room with a single large 
table.  I was mesmerized by the conversation, so I just stayed as a fly on the wall.

The subject was how the banks would make sure that credit card transactions would 
continue after a nuclear attack.
