Although they are fairly low key about it, I am pretty sure that unfortunately the tech-"hipster"-geek (bu still overall cool) site Boing Boing! is behind Ron Paul.

They will run a story about Paul like once every 3 weeks that has a soft & cuddly theme like "Ron Paul says his favorite comic book character is..." The kind of thing that appeals to Boing Boing readers. No other Pres. candidates get this "aww, cool, that's awesome" treatment from them. And Boing Boing has a pretty impressive staff of tech-libertarian, genuinely talented people. But the Paul thing -- no excuse for them w/ that. They are probably waiting for Paul to announce his love of anime. They would be all over that shit.

Also, Paul seems to kind of be this strange person that outsider-feeling-type people project their own pet desires onto, regardless of what Paul may or may not actually believe himself. My question is, why Paul and not Kucinich, if that's how it has to be?

"A lot of Paul's tech following is from usually mostly apolitical libertarian geeks like Chris Pirillo and Adam Curry (the early MTV VJ and now one of the inventors and popularizers of podcasting), not sure why Paul's appeal with them, but it is undeniably there. And geeks like that know how to spread memes on the Net.
