Merrill Lynch has confirmed that it has sold shares worth $4.4bn (£2.2bn) to the investment arm of the Singapore government.
As part of the deal, Temasek Holdings also has the option to buy a further $600m of stock in the US bank stricken by the credit crisis by 28 March. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7159486.stm
