In a recent interview in Maximum Rock 'n Roll, Mark E. Smith of The Fall was very much playing up the "screw this corrupt business system of ours" bit. He said major labels were horrible, indie labels were probably even worse, and had a very bitter screed about corporations, etc. A few weeks later his song is in the Mitsubishi SUV commercial.

Also, the Buzzcocks, like The Damned, used to not get airplay simply because of the band names, laughably now in the days of bands with names ike the Butthole Surfers. It's just odd that band with a name gotten from a porno mag ("get a buzz, cock") is shilling for an old persons' association. All I'm saying.
